Living with a Visual Impairment in New York (Interview with Jennifer Frederick)

About this episode

Jennifer Frederick is a midlife professional turned disability-rights advocate in New York’s Capital Region. She is a former insurance and corporate emergency-communications professional who lost most of her vision in her early forties due to diabetic retinopathy. She is rebuilding her life as a blind peer supporter, using her lived experience with midlife vision loss and diabetes to help others navigate services and the emotional side of losing sight. She is also an animal lover who believes in finding joy and humor even in the hard stuff, and in making sure people who do not have a built-in support system still know they have options.
