SFD 368: Sent from Play to Opera

About this episode

Posting from Disneyland. This week on Sent from Disneyland, we explore two vintage postcards and continue our tour of Disneyland through its historic mailboxes. First, we travel back to 1974 with a postcard featuring the Rivers of America, the Mark Twain, and Tom Sawyer Island. Then we take a closer look at the mailbox near what is now Pooh Corner and its fascinating history alongside Bear Country, the Country Bear Jamboree, Splash Mountain, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Our second postcard features Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse, and a colorful collection of Disney characters in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. From there, we head to Main Street, U.S.A., and explore the history of another Disneyland mailbox outside the Main Street Opera House—from Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln to the Disney Gallery and the many changes that have surrounded this historic location. Plus, an incoming postcard from Shannon perfectly connects with this episode's continuing Disneyland mailbox tour! Join me as we explore Disneyland history, vintage postcards, postage stamps, and the stories hiding in the Happiest Place on Earth.
