252 - Twisted Tuesdays: What Dallas Taught Me About Getting Out of My Comfort Zone

About this episode
Amy made it to Dallas—and the trip didn’t exactly go according to plan. After traveling alone to an Instagram growth event where she expected to know absolutely no one, Amy found herself confronting several things that normally make her uncomfortable: meeting strangers, navigating social situations alone, changing plans, eating outside her normal routine, and accepting that even the best preparation can fall apart. Then something unexpected happened. She connected in person with Lindsay, someone she had known online for roughly 15 years, and the two immediately clicked. She also discovered just how intentional successful content creators are about getting people to stop scrolling, pay attention, and actually see their message. But one of the biggest lessons from Dallas had nothing to do with Instagram.Amy had carefully mapped out her meals before the trip, packed food, planned ahead, and even created a “Dallas trip contract.” Then delayed travel and a packed event schedule changed everything.Years ago, that disruption could have triggered an all-or-nothing response: if she couldn’t follow the plan perfectly, she might as well go completely off the rails. Not anymore.Amy explains the mindset shift that helped her stop treating travel, weekends, and disrupted routines as opportunities to “get away with” everything before getting back on plan. Instead, she’s learned to make the best decision available in the moment—and then move on.In this episode, Amy talks about getting outside her comfort zone, the surprising power of connecting with people in person, what she learned about intentional social media growth, staying flexible when nutrition plans fall apart, breaking the all-or-nothing mentality, and learning to live by one powerful principle: High intentions, low attachment.
