#339 The Tale of Austin Metcalf & Karmelo Anthony Part 2 [Vacation Series]

What began as an ordinary high school track meet would end with two families changed forever, two young lives lost in profoundly different ways, and a few terrible seconds that would become the subject of arguments far beyond the stadium where they happened.Austin Metcalf was 17 years old. He came to the meet to compete, to spend the day with teammates and friends, and eventually to go home. He never did.Karmelo Anthony was 17 years old too. He arrived at that same stadium with an entire adulthood still ahead of him. Before the day was over, his name would become inseparable from Austin’s, and the trajectory of his life would change forever. At the center of this case is an encounter that initially seemed almost absurdly insignificant: a disagreement over where someone was sitting. Yet within minutes, Austin was mortally wounded, his twin brother was desperately trying to save him, and Karmelo was being taken into custody. But the story that followed would become much larger than those few moments.  Questions about self-defense, responsibility, race, juvenile justice, social media, fundraising, misinformation, and the behavior of people surrounding both teenagers would transform a local tragedy into a case debated by millions of strangers. Somewhere underneath all of that noise, however, remained something much simpler and infinitely sadder.Austin Metcalf was dead. And another 17-year-old boy had just begun losing the life he once expected to have.In Episode 338, Part One of The Tale of Austin Metcalf and Karmelo Anthony, we go back to the beginning, before the headlines, before the internet chose sides, and before anyone knew how far the consequences of one encounter at a high school stadium would reach.Because this is ultimately the story of two teenagers who walked into the same stadium that morning.  And neither of them would ever truly come home.LINKS: Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/killaforniapod PayPal:  https://www.paypal.coCashm/paypalme/killaforniapod Merchandise:  https://killaforniadreamingpodcast.threadless.com/ Website:  https://killaforniadreamingpodcast.buzzsprout.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KillaforniaDreamingPodcast Facebook Group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1296620370450345/ Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/killaforniadreaming Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/killaforniadreamingpod/?hl=en X:  https://twitter.com/killaforniapod TikTok:  @killaforniadreamingpod  Cash App:  $KDpodcastCosta Oil Las Vegas: Oil Change Service Las Vegas, NV Costa Oil Instagram: Costa Oil Las Vegas (@costaoillasvegas) • Instagram photos and videos Costa Oil Facebook:  Facebook  SOURCES: https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/live-updates/live-updates-karmelo-anthony-murder-trial-fatal-stabbing-austin-metcalf-frisco-track-meet/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/new-details-background-karmelo-anthony-retrial-hearing-08-20-2026/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/karmelo-anthony-retrial-hearing-austin-metcalf-murder-august-21/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/karmelo-anthony-new-trial-decision-austin-metcalf-8-22-2026/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/frisco-track-meet-stabbing-trial-karmelo-anthony-austin-metcalf-timeline/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/defense-rests-in-karmelo-anthony-murder-trial-in-fatal-stabbing-of-austin-metcalf-at-frisco-isd-track-meet/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/karmelo-anthony-trial-verdict-austin-metcalf-frisco-track-meet-stabbing/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/karmelo-anthonys-legal-team-files-for-new-trial-judges-removal/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/karmelo-anthony-austin-metcalf-families-death-threats-murder-trial/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/trial-date-set-karmelo-anthony-charged-in-fatal-stabbing-austin-metcalf-frisco-track-meet/ https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/karmelo-anthony-trial-collin-county-judge-media-security-order/ https://www.foxnews.com/us/karmelo-anthony-photographed-guns-docs-reveal-alleged-history-rage-threats-violence https://www.tpr.org/criminal-justice/2026-08-21/kept-out-of-the-trial-karmelo-anthony-spoiling-for-a-fight-victim-sprayed-racist-graffiti https://www.tpr.org/news/2026-06-09/karmelo-anthony-sentenced-to-35-years-in-fatal-stabbing-of-austin-metcalf-at-frisco-track-meet https://www.tpr.org/criminal-justice/2026-07-07/karmelo-anthony-attorneys-file-motions-for-new-trial-judge-recusal-in-frisco-stabbing-case https://en.rattibha.com/thread/2094823621663306186 https://threadreaderapp.com/scrolly/2094818735416619339 Support the show
