Ep 212 - September Ecom Recap: Fake Influencers, Real Lawsuits, and Amazon Bidding on Reviews Now

About this episode
September was a full one. The Ecommosaurus crew runs through the month's biggest stories, starting with Temu's army of fake influencers, 73 of the top 100 being artificial humans, and the swift and quiet dismantling of that network once it got exposed. Meta launched Muse to much fanfare, Amazon blocked it almost immediately, and Meta executives acted shocked, which raises its own questions. The FTC and 22 states sued Amazon over a secret ad surcharge scheme. Amazon announced it is now letting sellers bid for review prompts, which is either a clever way to level up social proof or a very awkward pivot for a platform that spent years banning paid reviews. The crew also gets into the new Seller Central UI and the internet's feelings about it, Best Buy launching on TikTok Shop. A lot happened. Most of it has opinions attached.
