OCTOBER 6 - Words That Nourish, Faith That Lasts3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 25:11–12; Psalms 115; John 6//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.” — Proverbs 25:11–12 (ESV)“You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield.” — Psalm 115:11 (ESV)“Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” — John 6:27 (ESV)________________________________________Have you ever scrolled through your feed and noticed how much advice and “inspiration” is out there? Everyone has something to say, but not all words carry real weight. Proverbs 25:11–12 reminds us that words spoken at the right time can be priceless treasures—beautiful and valuable, like gold. Psalm 115:11 shifts our attention from people’s voices to God’s voice, telling us that He is the one we can trust as our ultimate help and shield. And in John 6:27, Jesus makes it clear that the things of this world—likes, food, achievements—don’t last forever. The real “food” we need is the life, wisdom, and truth that only He can give. The words you listen to and the words you speak matter. Words can either drain you or fill you. They can either point you to what fades or lead you toward what lasts forever. When you learn to treasure God’s Word and trust in Him, you’re feeding on something eternal—something no social trend, disappointment, or failure can take away.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. The Power of Words: Who do you listen to most in your daily life—friends, influencers, or God’s Word? How can you use your own words to bring encouragement and truth like “apples of gold” (Proverbs 25:11–12)?2. Trust the Shield: When life feels shaky, do you put more trust in your own abilities or in God as your “help and shield” (Psalm 115:11)?3. Food That Lasts: What are some “foods that perish” in your life (things you chase that won’t last)? How can you make more room for the eternal food Jesus offers (John 6:27)?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEGod’s Word is the food that fills, His truth is the shield that protects, and His wisdom makes your words shine like gold.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that the words I speak and the voices I listen to shape my heart. Help me to treasure Your Word above everything else, to trust You as my help and shield, and to seek the food that lasts forever—Jesus Himself. Make my words life-giving and my faith unshakable. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
