If you have found honey, eat only enough for you, lest you have your fill of it and vomit it.” — Proverbs 25:15–16 (ESV)“For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.” — Psalm 116:8–9 (ESV)“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” — John 8:12 (ESV)________________________________________Have you ever eaten way too much candy and felt sick afterward? At first it’s sweet, but then it’s overwhelming. Life is kind of like that. Things that seem good in the moment—like chasing attention, winning every argument, or doing what everyone else is doing—can end up making us feel empty or even trapped. Proverbs 25:16 warns us not to overindulge, even in good things, because what starts sweet can quickly spoil. Psalm 116:8–9 reminds us that God is the One who saves us from stumbling and gives us strength to walk forward. And Jesus says in John 8:12 that when we follow Him, we’re not stumbling in the dark anymore—we’re walking in the light, free and alive.Real freedom doesn’t come from doing whatever you want; it comes from walking with Jesus, who shows you what’s truly good. He teaches us balance, gives us hope, and lights the way so we don’t fall into traps that look sweet but end bitter.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. The Power of Patience: Proverbs 25:15 shows that gentle words and patience can do more than anger or force. How can you use patience and kindness to influence people in your life?2. Watch Your Appetite: Just because something feels good doesn’t mean you should overdo it (Proverbs 25:16). What’s one area where you might need more balance—social media, food, video games, or even school pressure?3. Walk in the Light: Jesus promises light and life when we follow Him (John 8:12). What does it look like for you to walk in His light at school, at home, or with friends?________________________________________BOTTOM LINETrue freedom isn’t found in overindulging or chasing what feels good—it’s found in walking with Jesus, the Light of the world.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for being my light and my guide. Help me to walk in patience, balance, and truth, and not to be trapped by things that only seem sweet for a moment. Teach me to live in Your light and to find real freedom in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
