OCTOBER 7 - Refreshing Faithfulness3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 25:13–14; John 7//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a faithful messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters. Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of a gift he does not give.” — Proverbs 25:13–14 (ESV)“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”’” — John 7:37–38 (ESV)________________________________________Have you ever been really thirsty after a workout, a game, or just walking outside on a hot day? That first sip of cold water feels like life itself. In the same way, Proverbs 25:13 describes a faithful messenger as refreshing—someone who brings encouragement and trust, not empty words. On the flip side, Proverbs 25:14 warns about people who brag but never back it up. No one likes a promise-breaker.In John 7, Jesus tells the crowd that anyone who comes to Him will never stay spiritually thirsty—He offers “living water” that flows out of our lives to refresh others. That means when you stay connected to Jesus, your words and actions can refresh people around you, like cold water on a hot day. You don’t have to fake it or boast; you just need to let Him flow through you.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Faithfulness Over Flash: Do you tend to promise more than you can deliver? How can you practice being faithful in small things so people know they can trust you?2. Living Water Source: Where are you looking to fill your “thirst”—popularity, social media likes, or Jesus? Only He promises rivers of living water (John 7:37–38).3. Be Refreshing: What’s one way you can “refresh” someone’s day this week—with your words, encouragement, or actions?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEWhen you stay faithful and connected to Jesus, your life overflows with living water that refreshes others.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for being the source of living water that never runs dry. Help me to be faithful in my words and actions, not just making promises but following through. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can refresh others with encouragement, kindness, and truth. Teach me to rely on You daily, because only You can satisfy my deepest thirst. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
