Ep. 90 – Time, Our Most Precious Commodity

About this episode
Time is the one commodity you can never get back. The Mesilas Yesharim teaches that if you're smart, you won't waste a second. Don't lose out on time—it's so precious. Use it to serve Hashem better, to fix yourself, to elevate your soul. And yet people spend hours every day on their phones doing absolutely nothing. It's a rachmanis. Rosh Hashanah is approaching, and Hashem is going to decree life and death. You're going to ask for life—but what is life? Life is time. You're asking for more time on this earth. But what are you doing with it?If you're wasting time, what's the point? Hashem isn't giving you life so you can scroll mindlessly through social media. The Yetzer Hara loves boredom because when you're doing nothing, he can get you to do every aveira imaginable. Your mind and eyes wander to places they shouldn't go. Use your time. Create a schedule. Even during bein hazmanim, find ways to make every minute count. Avraham Avinu "came with his days"—he used every single one. A mismid isn't someone who learns 18 hours a day; it's someone who learns 60 minutes in an hour. Are you using every minute, or are you letting your life slip away?Hosted by Rabbi Ari Klapper and produced by Eli Podcast Productions, this episode is part of the Real Judaism series, available on RealJudaism.org.
