In the late 1980s, the residents of North Philadelphia knew Gary Heidnik as an eccentric, self-styled preacher and a surprisingly savvy stock market investor. But behind the doors of his row house at 3520 North Marshall Street, Heidnik was presiding over a literal "house of horrors."
