Moshe Dayan in 10 MInutes

About this episode
With his black eye patch and hawk-like profile, Moshe Dayan became the living emblem of Israel's early military swagger—a kibbutz-born fighter who lost an eye fighting for the British in 1941, rose as a daring commander in the 1948 War of Independence, and as Chief of Staff and later Defense Minister helped shape the lightning victories of 1956 and 1967. To Israelis he remains the archetypal warrior-statesman whose presence on the Temple Mount after the capture of East Jerusalem seemed to fulfill an ancient longing, even as later setbacks and political controversies revealed the limits of the legend he so powerfully embodied.
