The Heritage of the Lord, Part 2: Train Up a Child

Originally recorded in January 1987, Steve continues the two-part teaching series The Heritage of the Lord. In Part 2, Steve continues looking at the lives of Eli, his sons Hophni and Phinehas, and Samuel, showing the seriousness of a household being kept in order before the Lord. He emphasizes that children are the heritage of the Lord, and that parents carry a responsibility to train, correct, pray for, and guide them in the ways of God. Steve also highlights Samuel’s response to the voice of the Lord: “Speak, for thy servant heareth.” Through Samuel’s obedience and willingness to serve, this message points to the blessing of a child raised to hear God, honor His Word, and not let His words fall to the ground.The teaching also moves into the story of Esther and Mordecai, showing the fruit of faithful spiritual covering, preparation, and obedience.
