About this episode

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format.Psalms 46:1 - 46:11- God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble, so we will not fear even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea, for a river brings joy to the city of our God, where He dwells and which cannot be destroyed.- The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us as our fortress, He causes wars to end and breaks the bow and snaps the spear, and He says, "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation."Psalms 80:1 - 80:19- Asaph calls on the Shepherd of Israel to listen and rescue His people, who have been fed with sorrow and tears, repeating the prayer, "Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved."- He remembers how God brought Israel like a grapevine out of Egypt and planted it until it spread across the land, then asks why its walls have been broken down so wild animals can feed on it, and he begs God to come back, care for this vine, and revive His people so they will never abandon Him again.Psalms 135:1 - 135:21- The servants of the LORD are called to praise Him because He is good and has chosen Israel as His own special treasure, for He is greater than any other god and does whatever pleases Him in heaven and on earth.- The psalm recalls how the LORD struck down the firstborn of Egypt and the kings of the nations to give Israel their land, contrasts Him with idols of silver and gold that have mouths but cannot speak and eyes but cannot see, and calls all Israel to praise the LORD.Acts 25:13-27- King Agrippa and Bernice arrive in Caesarea to visit Festus, who explains that Paul's accusers charged him with nothing criminal but argued about their religion and about a dead man named Jesus, who Paul insists is alive, and that Paul has appealed to the emperor, so Agrippa says he would like to hear the man himself.- The next day Agrippa and Bernice enter the auditorium with great pomp along with military officers and prominent men of the city, and Festus presents Paul, saying he has found nothing deserving death and needs help knowing what charges to write to the emperor.
