About this episode

What does it really mean to love someone? Not when it’s easy. Not when they agree with us.Not when they’ve earned it.But when loving them actually costs us something.❤️ LOVE AND DEATH is a conversation between  @TuneThyHeart  and  @jtfollowsjc  about the kind of love Jesus calls us to... a love that requires something in us to die.Our pride. Our need to be right. Our resentment. Our selfishness. Our desire to withhold forgiveness. Our instinct to only love the people who love us back.Jesus didn’t simply tell us to love one another. He showed us what love looks like.It serves. It forgives. It sacrifices. It gives. It looks for the good in others. It refuses to participate in hatred, gossip, slander, and public humiliation. And sometimes, it chooses to love someone even when everything in our flesh is telling us not to.That kind of love requires death to self. And maybe that’s one of the reasons genuine Christlike love can be so difficult. It’s easy to talk about loving people. It’s much harder to forgive someone who hurt you. It’s harder to show kindness when there’s nothing in it for you. It’s harder to give when it actually costs you something. It’s harder to hope for restoration when the world would rather see someone destroyed. And it’s harder to see the best in someone when everyone around you is pointing out their worst. But Jesus didn’t say the world would recognize His disciples by how much truth they knew, how many arguments they won, or how effectively they exposed everyone else.He said they would know us by our love.So this episode is an invitation to examine ourselves:Are we actually loving people the way Jesus loved us?When was the last time we gave something meaningful to someone who could do absolutely nothing for us in return? When was the last time we forgave when we had every worldly reason to hold onto the offense? When was the last time we chose mercy over pride? When was the last time our love actually cost us something?Because following Jesus isn’t simply about knowing what He taught. It’s about becoming more like Him.And sometimes…for His love to become more visible in us,something in us has to die.If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer?
