Day 267. Obadiah & Jonah

Obadiah announces judgment against Edom because of its violence and pride toward Judah, while affirming that the kingdom ultimately belongs to the LORD. Jonah then shows God’s mercy extending even to Israel’s enemies: Jonah runs from his calling, is swallowed by a great fish, eventually preaches to Nineveh, and becomes angry when God spares the repentant city. The book leaves a challenging question about whether God’s people will share His compassion for those they consider undeserving.
