Ed Faber – Accidental Beginnings. Watches. Jewelry.

Ed Faber didn't set out to become one of America's best-known vintage watch experts. In the 1970s, he and his wife Patricia were building a gallery devoted to fine and contemporary jewelry when a watch dealer walked in and suggested they try selling watches. Ed initially told him to go away. Then he put 25 watches on a shelf. Two weeks later, half of them were gone. That unexpected experiment eventually became a lifelong passion – and helped establish Aaron Faber Gallery as a destination for collectors of vintage and collectible timepieces. Ed went on to co-author American Wristwatches: Five Decades of Style and Design and build a career around understanding the history, design, craftsmanship, and personality of watches. The gallery has always maintained another passion as well: contemporary jewelry, working with artists and designers whose pieces are meant to be appreciated as art as much as adornment. For Ed, whether it's a watch or a piece of jewelry, the real question is simple: Is the design compelling?
