About this episode

DAY 207: Isaiah 40–43With Babylonian exile now looming over Judah’s future, Isaiah suddenly erupts with comfort: God has not forgotten His people. The Creator who numbers the stars and rules the nations will come as both mighty King and gentle Shepherd, gathering His lambs and giving strength to the weary. Isaiah mocks the idols that must be built, carried, stabilized, guarded, and maintained by their own worshipers, while the living God does exactly the opposite: He carries His people. Then the Spirit-anointed Servant appears, bringing justice to the nations without crushing the bruised reed or extinguishing the faintly burning wick. Israel has been a blind and disobedient servant, but God promises a faithful Servant who will accomplish her calling. Finally, the Lord announces a new exodus, making roads through the wilderness, rivers in the desert, forgiving transgression, and gathering His scattered children home. These chapters point unmistakably to Jesus Christ. He is the Lord whose way John the Baptist prepares, the Good Shepherd who gathers the lost, the faithful Servant who brings justice to the nations, and the Redeemer who leads His people out of slavery to sin and death. The exiles may feel forgotten, but God’s answer is wonderfully personal: “I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”CHECK IT OUT ON:SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/show/6jKPORV75RzsBVOqC8IsvE?si=e1d0801259e14135APPLE PODCASTS: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/five-minute-bible/id1865075283YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@KendallLankfordLET'S CHURCH: https://lets.church/channel/five-minute-bible
