About this episode

DAY 209: 2 Kings 19; Psalms 46, 80, 135Jerusalem stands under Assyrian threat, but Hezekiah responds differently from the unbelieving kings before him: he carries the enemy’s words into the presence of God. Sennacherib boasts of nations crushed and gods defeated, but Hezekiah recognizes the difference between lifeless idols and the living Lord. He spreads the threatening letter before God and asks for deliverance so that every kingdom may know that the Lord alone is God. The answer is decisive. Assyria will not conquer Jerusalem, and the invading army is shattered by the angel of the Lord. Psalms 46, 80, and 135 teach us how to interpret that rescue. God is refuge when nations rage, Shepherd when His people need restoration, and sovereign King above every ruler and idol. Yet deliverance should not produce pride. Psalm 80 still cries, “Restore us,” reminding God’s people that rescue must deepen repentance, dependence, and worship. Ultimately, these passages point to Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, the true Vine, the Son of Man at God’s right hand, and the King whose kingdom cannot be shaken. Empires rage, idols crumble, and kings die, but Christ lives and reigns forever.CHECK IT OUT ON:SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/6jKPORV75RzsBVOqC8IsvE?si=e1d0801259e14135APPLE PODCASTS:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/five-minute-bible/id1865075283YOUTUBE:https://www.youtube.com/@KendallLankfordLET'S CHURCH:https://lets.church/channel/five-minute-bible
