About this episode

DAY 215: 2 Chronicles 32–33Chronicles revisits Hezekiah and Manasseh to reveal something remarkable about the mercy of God. Hezekiah trusts the Lord when Assyria surrounds Jerusalem, confessing that the enemy possesses only an arm of flesh while Judah has the Lord fighting for her. God answers prayer and destroys the Assyrian army. Yet after deliverance, Hezekiah becomes proud, reminding us that sometimes victory tests the heart more severely than danger. Then comes Manasseh, one of Judah’s most wicked kings. He fills Jerusalem with idolatry, sorcery, corrupted worship, and bloodshed until God finally sends Assyria to drag him away in chains. And there, in Babylon, the unthinkable happens: Manasseh humbles himself, prays, and God hears him. The king who desecrated the Temple returns to Jerusalem removing idols and restoring the Lord’s altar. His repentance cannot erase every consequence of decades of corruption, but his restoration demonstrates the astonishing reach of sovereign grace. Ultimately, these chapters point us to Jesus Christ. The innocent King is bound so rebels can be released. He bears judgment so the guilty can receive mercy. Manasseh’s story does not tell us that sin is small. It tells us that Christ’s grace is greater. No history is too stained, no heart too hardened, and no exile too distant for the Savior who died and rose again.CHECK IT OUT ON:SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/show/6jKPORV75RzsBVOqC8IsvE?si=e1d0801259e14135APPLE PODCASTS: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/five-minute-bible/id1865075283YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@KendallLankfordLET'S CHURCH: https://lets.church/channel/five-minute-bible
