Grandparents: Stop Hiding Behind The Grandkids

About this episode
Grandparent grief is real.I am a grandparent. I am an estranged mother. I know what it feels like to miss the faces, the hugs, the birthdays, the summer moments, and the little pieces of a child’s life you thought you would always be part of.But grief is not proof.Loss is not motive. And missing your grandchildren does not automatically mean your adult child is weaponizing them.In this episode, I’m talking about grandparent grief, family estrangement, adult child boundaries, parent authority, echo chambers, and the difference between love and entitlement.Because “I miss them” is grief.“They are weaponizing them” is motive. And if you do not know the motive, stop acting like your pain proved it.Sometimes a closed door is painful and still not abuse.
Sometimes it is protection.
Sometimes it is consequence.
Sometimes it is a parent saying, “I do not trust this.”Grandparent grief is real.
Grandparent entitlement is also real.Love does not equal access.
Pain is not proof.
Loss is not motive. And your grandchildren are not weapons just because you did not get your way.
