AN021 - Lake Vostok Reached - Drilling Through 3,769 Metres of Ice to a Prehistoric Ocean

Beneath Russia's Vostok Station in East Antarctica, under nearly four kilometres of ice, lies a lake the size of Lake Ontario — sealed from the atmosphere for 15 to 25 million years. On 5 February 2012, after decades of drilling, political controversy, and international environmental pressure, a Russian drill bit finally broke through. What they found — and what it means for life on icy moons like Europa — changed science forever. This is the story of humanity's deepest and most patient act of exploration.🙏 THIS EPISODE IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY CYPRUSREALRETURNSA huge thank you to CyprusRealReturns for supporting Seven Continents, One Story.
