Ben Ward's Story Part 2: What If The Burden Is The Light

About this episode
In Part 2 of my conversation with Ben, we continue into the experiences that tested his faith in an entirely different way. Ben shares what happened when he was diagnosed with melanoma, the cancer returned aggressively, and suddenly the battle became physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual. He talks about the community that rallied around his family, what it was like to receive help when he was used to being the provider, and how he learned firsthand what it means for burdens to actually become lighter. We also talk about fear, uncertainty, and doubt....and how the principles Ben had spent years teaching through his work became the very principles he had to live while fighting for his life. Ben shares an incredible experience of feeling prompted by God while driving with his family, and how that impression may have saved their lives. We talk about recognizing God’s voice, trusting what doesn’t always make logical sense, radical honesty, and the awareness that comes from believing heaven is much closer than we sometimes realize. And at the end of our conversation, Ben answers the question I ask every guest: Who do you know your Savior to be now? His answer is simple and beautiful, Jesus Christ is his brother, the one who goes before him, does not shame him, and continues to offer love even when Ben struggles to fully receive it. This episode is about what happens when faith moves from something you believe into something you actually have to live. If you haven’t listened to Part 1 yet, start there, and then come back for the rest of Ben’s story. Host: Sierra Isaac Editor: Adrienne Quintana
