Nebraska Eyes Historic 5-Star Commit | Nebraska Cornhuskers Basketball News

Nebraska’s basketball program is on the verge of historic recruiting success as five-star power forward Dawson Battie, ranked 26 in the 2027 class, eyes a commitment that would make him the highest-rated recruit in school history. With only one other official visit to Stanford and multiple trips to Lincoln—including a recent one where he witnessed the gritty atmosphere at Pinnacle Bank Arena—Battie is leaning heavily toward Nebraska, who offered him early and has maintained consistent pursuit since October 2024. If he signs, he’ll join elite company as just the second five-star recruit in program history and surpass Bryce McGowens’ previous record. His NBA-caliber pedigree, with an uncle Tony Battie and brother Dillon already playing college ball, adds to the hype. With over a 90% chance of landing him, this weekend’s visit could be the tipping point—and potentially transform Nebraska’s future on the hardwood.
