Lorena Evans - Homebrewing Pioneer, Manatees & Brewer's Friend

Lorena Evans joins Jeremy to share her incredible 22-year homebrewing journey that started in the most unexpected way — a broken leg from a hockey game. What began as a way to stay busy during recovery quickly turned into a full-blown passion, taking her from kitchen extract kits to an all-electric half-barrel HERMS system in her laundry room. Lorena also opens up about her role at Brewer's Friend, being one of the early women in homebrewing, and her experience as a tech editor for Fermentation Kitchen. Beyond beer, Lorena talks about her love of the outdoors, volunteering with animals, and her fun part-time gig as a first mate and narrator on a wildlife boat tour in Florida where she gets paid to talk about manatees, bald eagles, and dolphins on the Homosassa River. A wide-ranging, fun conversation about beer, life, and finding your passion in the most unexpected places.Brewer's Friend (NOT A SPONSOR) - https://www.brewersfriend.com/-------------------------------------------Smoky Mountain Homebrew Links SUBSCRIBE: / @smokymountainhomebrewSign up: smokymountainhomebrew.beehiiv.comListen on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jeremy-lincoln-show/id1853010507Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3bLkPSvvBgIKYAOA3hlylAFollow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/smokymountainhomebrew/Follow on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@smokeymountainbrewingFollow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61583833223126 Follow on X: https://x.com/smkmnthomebrewSupport the Show: Pateron: https://www.patreon.com/cw/smokymountainhomebrewBuy me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/jeremylincpRecipes from Homebrewershttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1b65jXOFevFO4JRUq0TyxU7gmFpTrXcvy?usp=sharing
