SPECIAL: Reflecting on INEOS – Rebuilding or Ruining United?

This week, we are dropping a special deep-dive episode putting INEOS's ownership and control completely under the microscope. Can they actually bring Manchester United back to the top, or is the club rotting from the inside out? Joe breaks down the absolute highs and the very dark lows of the Ratcliffe era so far. We start with the positives, praising a much-needed overhaul in recruitment where we finally stopped paying the "United Tax" and secured genuine value over the last two seasons. But then, we get into the controversies. We dissect Sir Jim Ratcliffe's highly controversial political comments regarding immigration that sparked outrage among the fanbase, the brutal corporate cost-cutting that saw hundreds of rank-and-file staff lose their jobs, and the disastrous season ticket sweep that alienated loyal supporters. We also look at the chaotic executive merry-go-round—including the baffling 5-month tenure of Dan Ashworth and the constant managerial sackings. Finally, we call out the board's most recent failure: leaving Michael Carrick out to dry by not backing him with a desperately needed LB, CB, and backup striker in the latest window.Episode Talking Points:The Good: Praising INEOS's strict new recruitment ethos, ending the days of being overcharged, and finding real value in the market. The Controversies: Reacting to Ratcliffe’s political interviews, the ruthless wave of 250+ staff redundancies, and the botched campaign that stripped loyal fans of their season tickets. The Merry-Go-Round: Analysing the chaotic planning failures that saw Ten Hag extended then sacked, Amorim dismissed after 14 months, and Dan Ashworth fired just months after his expensive arrival.Carrick Left Hanging: Joe questions the board's ambition after failing to secure a left-back, center-back, and backup striker despite the manager's public pleas.Listen Here: linktr.ee/devilsintheboxInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/devilsinthebox/Welcome to Devils in the Box! 🔴Hosted by Joe—a former amateur journalist whose impact on the world of Man Utd reporting was roughly as significant as Antony's right foot—Devils in the Box cuts through the noise of the modern football news cycle with some much-needed journalism perspective.🔔 SUBSCRIBE, FOLLOW & RATE!
