What I Would Tell My Younger Self Now"I would look at that man sitting in that dead car in the VCU parking lot, gripping the steering wheel in the dark, and I’d say: You did exactly what you were supposed to do.Do not feel guilty for the anger you felt in that clinic, and don't regret snapping on the drive home. You were being gaslit by a broken bureaucratic system. You were 100% right to throw your weight around when they tried to lock the doors on you. When you got home and read those falsified clinical notes, your instinct to fight back, call the advocate, and correct the record is exactly what saved your brain volume. You proved right then that you are a fierce advocate for yourself. If a doctor doesn't listen, if they misrepresent your words on your chart, you fire them instantly and find someone who treats you like an equal partner. You aren't just a patient anymore; you are the manager of your own survival."This episode includes personal discussion of chronic illness, mental health, medical treatment, and the lived experience of multiple sclerosis.
