Prophecy, as intelligible speech, builds up the congregation; tongues without interpretation benefit only the speaker. The remedy for pride and confusion is love-guided, intelligible ministry that strengthens others.  However, not all words are good words, especially if they are hot words; of this we are reminded by James, who says, Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
