Ep 507 | Women in tech com, tech bros, and the rise of the independent woman.

Drinking With Authors | Featuring Sharon BurtonGuest: Sharon Burton has done standup comedy, is on husband #4, and lived in Italy and Mexico. Author of Women in Technical Communication: From Typewriters to Touchscreens  Drink of Choice: Coffee, water, or wine. Sharon Burton helps people and organizations make sense of complex stuff through smart content strategy. By day, she works as a content strategist, helping businesses design content that actually works—for the company and for the humans using it. By night (two or three nights a week, to be exact), she teaches “baby engineers” at the University of California, Riverside, showing them how to communicate like pros. Armed with a graduate degree in cultural anthropology, Sharon has spent her career exploring how people find, use, and trust information—and how better content design can transform the user experience and the business bottom line. She’s taught more than 8,000 people in corporate and university settings, proving that good communication is as much a system as it is a science. She’s the editor of Women in Technical Communication: From Typewriters to Touchscreens (XML Press, 2026), a living history of women shaping technology through words and the co-author of Engineering Words (XML Press, 2025). When she’s not untangling messy content ecosystems, Sharon can be found sewing, knitting, cooking, baking bread, growing things, riding on the back of a motorcycle, and lifting something heavy at the gym. Join Nick Savage, award-winning author and host of Drinking with Authors, for a fireside-style conversation with Sharon Burton. To keep up: https://www.sharonburton.com/ sharon@sharonburton.com Threads: @sharonburton4735 Bluesky: @sharonburton.bsky.social Subscribe and join us for a brilliant blend of drinks, banter, and darker discussions!  www.4horsemenpublications.com www.drinkingwithauthors.com drinkingwithauthors@gmail.com Facebook: @drinkingwithauthors Instagram: @drinkingwithauthors Threads: @drinkingwithauthors Bluesky: @drinkingwauthors.bsky.social TikTok: @drinkingwithauthors YouTube: Drinking With Authors The PodcastLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drinking-with-authors/ Pintererst:@drinkingwithauthorspodcast Spotify: Drinking with Authors Amazon Music: Drinking-with-authors Apple Podcasts: drinking-with-authors Amazon Podcasts: Drinking with Authors  #DrinkingWithAuthors #NickSavage #SharonBurton #WomeninTechnicalCommunicationFromTypewriterstoTouchscreens #Anthropologist #NonFiction #Teacher #LiftHeavy #CommunicationIsKey #Podcast #AuthorInterview About Your Host – Nick SavageNick Savage is an award-winning and best-selling author of Modern Romance and Contemporary Fantasy.
